What is a Surf Coaching & Video Analysis Session on the Mornington Peninsula

What Stoked HQ is about?

Stoked HQ provides ego-free surf coaching tailored for surfers from intermediate-beginners to advanced intermediates. I record your sessions from the beach and convert your clips into actionable, clear analysis and tips you can apply in your next surf or coaching session. The feedback is clear, enjoyable, and helps you build confidence, so you can achieve more from your surfing goals.

  • Inclusion first: we support everyday surfers, especially women and LGBTQIA+ folk, to feel welcome, valued, and excited

  • We focus on progress, not perfection. By making one small change at a time, improvements really last

  • Positive vibes only: we celebrate small wins, laugh off the kooky moments, and keep it light

  • We’re all about community. Respect the lineup, share the waves, and support one another

  • Video analysis is only one part of Stoked HQ, but we also offer retreats, filming-only sessions, and workshops for those who want to learn more

Video Analysis — why it works

Watching yourself surf can really change how you improve. Even small adjustments can make a big difference. I keep feedback simple and practical, and you can always ask questions in your online portal.

Who this suits

  • You are paddling out solo, or want to but hate doing it alone, ready to level up without ego, and want to have fun

  • You want objective feedback on technique, timing, positioning, and style

  • You’re ready for a couple of clear tweaks and want to feel the difference right away

How it feels to work with us

  • Warm welcome, zero judgement, lots of encouragement

  • Goals and actions to work towards

  • Beach-based filming + straight-up feedback you can use in your next surf session that you can review once it's uploaded

  • You’ll leave with a focused plan, renewed energy, and eagerness to get back in the water

What you get (at a glance)

  • First time to Stoked HQ - Pre-session chat (15–20 min) to, find out who you are and what your surf goals are, what kind of surfing you like, set goals, pick a suitable break, and cover safety - If either of us discover this isn’t a good fit during this time, we will offer you a refund, just ask

  • 2 hours on the beach, pre-session check-in, filming your surfing (no in-water coaching), and a post surf check-in if you want to get out! If you want to stay, just let me know so I can upload your footage when I can

  • Up to 4 waves reviewed after the session in your private online portal (concise notes and actionable cues)

How it works
(step-by-step)

Before the day

  • Book online → agree to T&Cs → sign the waiver

  • Pre-session call (15–20 min):

    • I get to know you, where you are with your surfing and set up some goals

    • Together, we select a location that matches your skill level and comfort level, and the forecast

    • Review safety, boards, surf knowledge, and any potential injuries

Day-before forecast check: I’ll confirm the meet-up time and surf spot.

On the day (2 hours total)

• Meet, plan, set up (first 10 min): quick read of the surf, currents, wind, and crowd, and we set your goals

• You surf, I film (from the beach)

• No mid-surf check-ins unless you want them

Wrap-up (last 10–20 min): discuss your next focus areas and when to expect your analysis.

After the session

• I upload your best clips and analyse up to 4 waves online in your private portal. I’ll give you the link to set up your portal

• You’ll see clear, wave-by-wave notes in plain English (e.g., “eyes to the section”, “where are you sitting on the wave”)

• You get an action plan based on your goals from the surf, so you can implement it at your next session

What to bring?

Definitely some stoke + your usual surf gear (board/leggie/wax), wettie/rashie for the temp, sunscreen, water, small snacks.

If you want to bring board options, you can, this is your surf!

Location & conditions — how we handle it

• We work with you to build your knowledge of the local breaks. Not sure where to surf? That’s why we’re here. If size is a concern, we’ll recommend gentler breaks and friendlier tide/wind times. Mornington Peninsula surf and forecasting is a skill—together, we’ll dial it in

• We message the day before because, well… mother nature, things may look great on the apps, but things also change, so thats why we confirm the day before

• We recommend you arrive 30 minutes early to watch the ocean and check your safety comfort level if you are an intermediate beginner

• If its working and you are ready to go feel 100% safe to paddle out, then the fun starts here!

• If it’s too small/flat or unsuitable or you just aren’t feeling it:

  • We can switch to high-value land coaching: forecast walkthrough, warm-ups, surf drills, review any clips you’ve got, watch other surfers/conditions together, and goal setting

  • Try a different spot (not guaranteed; additional travel will shorten your filming time, but if we can, we will try!

  • Refunds: Sessions changed or cancelled due to small/flat/unsuitable conditions are not refundable (at the discretion of Stoked HQ)

  • Final call to surf is yours. My advice is guidance—not a guarantee of safety or suitability
